Positive Action South West provides a wide range of information, advice and support to those affected by HIV and AIDS in Devon, Somerset and Cornwall. We also provide education and training on HIV and other sexual health issues.
Client services include a range of support, advice and information for people living with HIV & AIDS and related sexual health issues, their carers, partners and family members. Services include: one to one and group support; specialist advice; information and advocacy; complementary therapies including stress management, aromatherapy massage, acupuncture and reflexology; social activities and specialist helpline. There is also a hardship fund which is available to Positive Action South West (PAW) clients who are HIV positive.
Education & training services
Positive Action South West provides HIV and sexual health awareness training for staff and volunteers in statutory and voluntary organisations. This can be through our rolling programme of free training or through in-house training tailored to the specific needs of an organisation or department. We aim to train local workers who can then pass on the safer sex message to groups and individuals that they work with, and also help organisations ensure that their staff are trained in HIV and Hepatitis awareness and that their policies and procedures are appropriate.
PAW also provides HIV education sessions for groups and members of the public. Contact Sally Anne Folland, HIV and Sexual Health Trainer for more details.
Services are provided at the main centres in Exeter and Torquay; at outreach centres: in Glastonbury, Plymouth, Taunton and local hospitals and in an individual's home.
